Challenge yourself for Air Ambulance!
Wiltshire Air Ambulance has put the call out to fill their third trek to Trek to Morocco.
The Trek to climb the highest Atlas Mountain in Morocco has been so successful that the charity has decided to run it again to raise much needed funds for Wiltshire’s dedicated Air Ambulance.
Caroline Corrigan, head of fundraising at the charity said ‘over the past two years this trek has raised in excess of £60,000. This incredible amount is greatly needed to ensure we are able to continue to cover the running costs of the helicopter.
By the end of 2014 our running costs will be 2.5million per year which works out at £6,850 per day. Over the past two years we’ve been working hard to ensure we are able to meet this rise in income and our treks and challenges really do ring a bell with supports who sign up.
The Highest Atlas Mountain is called Toubkal. We have 10 people signed up and we’re looking for another 10 to join them.
The trek leaves on September 23rd – 27th September 2013. We ask each trekker to raise £1,500 through sponsorship. This covers flights, food, water and we always bring a doctor on the trek to look after the team. It also includes a £985 donation to come’s the charity.
Last year’ trek team enjoyed sleeping out under the stars on the mountain and showering under waterfalls. For more information visit www.wiltshireairambulance.co.uk and click on events. To sign up email caroline@wiltshireairambulance.co.uk and secure your place.’
The charity receives no Government funding but rely totally on the support of the public and business support. Over the last 18months the helicopter and crew have flown to over 1400 different incidences across the county and neighbouring counties.
